Breath IS Life

While traditional definitions of Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTS) have focused primarily on direct experiences of perceived life-threatening events, recent studies show that secondary experiences such as losing a loved-one to violence, witnessing a violent act or long-term exposure to a stressful environment can also produce PTS or PTS-like symptoms.

Research is now acknowledging that generational trauma and chronic exposure to stress and systemic biases can have a profoundly negative impact on the body and mind.

The yogic science of breath is a precise, 5000+ year-old science of promoting holistic health.

One of the most comprehensive breathing techniques derived from this ancient science is Sudarshan Kriya (SKY).

SKY uses specific rhythms of breath to eliminate stress, strengthen the immune system, dissipate overpowering emotions, and restore peace of mind.

There are two aspects to the breath – oxygen, which nourishes and purifies the physical body, and prana (life force energy) that nourishes and purifies the subtle body (mind and emotions).  The body releases 70% of toxins through breathing.  There also exists a deeper connection between the breath, the mind and emotions. As we experience different emotions, our breathing patterns change automatically.  Whenever we experience happiness, the breath is lighter. Similarly, whenever we experience sadness it becomes heavier.  SKY Breathing is a powerful technique that utilizes this built-in connection allowing for effortless, deep relaxation, purification and rejuvenation throughout the entire nervous system, resulting in an inner state of calm, restful alertness and increased vitality.

Clinical Research

Over 100 independent studies conducted on four continents and published in peer review journals, have demonstrated a comprehensive range of benefits from practicing Sudarshan Kriya™ (SKY) and related breathing exercises.

  • Relieves anxiety & depression
  • Relieves Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) symptoms
  • Improved emotion regulation
  • Increased mental focus
  • Enhanced immune system
  • Increased optimism
  • Improved cholesterol
  • Increased antioxidant enzymes

Proven Benefits of SKY:

“Positive” emotions such as joy, love and enthusiasm produce chemical messengers that can affect the brain, endocrine and immune systems in positive ways, resulting in improved resistance to disease, and better overall health.

In contrast, “negative” emotions such as anger, fear and sadness, produce chemicals that can adversely affect these systems, resulting in less resistance to disease and poorer overall health.

This is how feeling stressed can lead to significant alterations in the physiology, and can contribute to a broad range of diseases, ranging from high blood pressure, cancer and cardiovascular disease to asthma, depression, and ulcers.
